On November 21, 2025 will take place the International Conference entitled “Advancing Human Dignity: International and EU Legal Pathways to Justice, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination” organized by the Faculty of Law of the Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania) with the Department of Legal Sciences (School of Law)ofthe University of Salerno.

The event is part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Module EU-GLOBACT Transnational Crime and EU Law: towards Global Action against Cross-border Threats to common security, rule of law and human rights” co-funded by the European Commission (2023-2026) and of the IECLO Multidisciplinary Legal Observatory (www.ieclo.org), both based at the DSG.

The Conference deals with the protection and promotion of human dignity, that remain fundamental priorities within both international and European Union legal systems. In particular, the Conference will examine how legal frameworks, institutional practices, and judicial developments – at both European and global levels – can be harnessed to advance justice, to foster inclusion, and to combat discrimination in all its forms. By bringing together diverse perspectives, the event aims at facilitating dialogue on how law and policy can more effectively safeguard the inherent dignity of every individual.

Organised in hybrid format by the University of Salerno and Transilvania University of Brașov, this one-day conference invites academics to engage in critical and interdisciplinary dialogue on both the potential and the limitations of current legal frameworks.

In fact, through a Call for Papers, Organizers invite to submit contributions that explore the following themes from the perspective of human dignity, including, but not limited to:

• Human Dignity, Inclusion and Non-discrimination in the Digital Age;

• Discrimination and Judicial Protection of Minority Rights;

• Human Dignity and Sustainable Development;

• Corporate Social Responsibility and Inclusive Practices;

• Vulnerable Groups and Human Dignity in Armed Conflicts;

• Promoting Inclusivity and Human Dignity Through Criminal Law.

Proposals are welcomed from national and international experts in the topic covered, both from the academic world and specialized institutions and organizations, as well as early career researchers and Ph.D. candidates. Abstracts (maximum 350 words) should be submitted by 27 July 2025.
